Pet Refuge
Pet Refuge is a New Zealand charitable organisation providing temporary shelter and care for pets while their families escape family violence and enter emergency housing, where pets are often not allowed. Once safe, and families have secured new safe pet-friendly accommodation pets are reunited with their families to live their new safe life together.
Housed in a state-of-the-art facility, pets receive nutritious food, a warm and safe bed, and comprehensive veterinary care — from vaccinations, general health checks, and microchipping to intensive treatment for illnesses, severe injuries, dental care, and surgeries. Pet Refuge also designs bespoke training, and enrichment plans to help pets recover mentally from trauma too. Pet Refuge has an expert team that ensures each pet’s wellbeing is fully supported, keeping them happy, healthy, and ready for their new safe lives.
